Foods To Avoid For Fibromyalgia

Most often it will be women that suffer from this chronic condition. They say that the pain never seems to go away. Associated symptoms include fatigue, chronic muscle pain, sleep deprivation and concentration issues. Learning which foods to avoid for fibromyalgia is one very important thing you can do to eliminate the related symptoms and reduce chronic inflammation.

Here is what the Mayo Clinic has to say about fibromyalgia and it's complex array of symptoms:
Symptoms sometimes begin after a physical trauma, surgery, infection or significant psychological stress. In other cases, symptoms gradually accumulate over time with no single triggering event.
Women are much more likely to develop fibromyalgia than are men. Many people who have fibromyalgia also have tension headaches, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety and depression.
A short list of foods to avoid for fibromyalgia would be:

  • processed foods
  • foods with additives
  • foods with nitrates like lunch meats
  • foods with gluten (wheat, rye, and barley)
  • artificial sweeteners
